Enhancing Dignity And Peace
Volunteer Opportunities at Comfort Hospice Care & Sunflower Foundation.
You can help Comfort Hospice Care and the Sunflower Foundation by volunteering. Volunteers may range from teens to seniors and some may have professional skills while others are just people that want to help others and serve their community. We are actively seeking volunteers today!
Our volunteers provide to those in the community who are dealing with the challenges of a life-limiting or terminal illness. They are ready to help in any situation, and the services provided by volunteers oftentimes includes assisting a patient or family member with basic activities of daily life. They are trained to listen to patients and support the families in patient’s homes, assisted-living facilities, or nursing homes.
Volunteers in hospice find it personally gratifying, intellectually stimulating and emotionally meaningful to assist those in need at a critical point in their lives. Many of these volunteers were introduced to hospice through the death of a loved one and understand first hand the value of hospice care, but nearly 20% of volunteers are new to hospice. Our volunteers consistently report that helping the terminally ill through hospice is not about dying but about living.
