Children are not small adults.

Families caring for critically ill children have unique and special needs. Most hospices are geared to treat adults and are not equipped or staffed to address the host of physical, psychological, emotional, and spiritual challenges of seriously ill children and their families.

At Comfort Hospice Care the Pediatric Division offers specialized care to meet the special needs of children with life limiting and life threatening conditions and their families. Our Pediatric Team walks with families, providing care, support, choice and control in making decisions for their child so they may define for themselves the most comfortable and dignified manner in which to live. Through family focused support and services, we help to keep the family intact during and after the worst crisis a family can endure: the critical illness and death of their child. We enable the family to function as a family unit again.

We work with your health care providers to coordinate your child’s care from the time of diagnosis or hospitalization, including discharge planning, help in obtaining special equipment, supplies medications and services to enable the family/care provider to confidently care for their child at home in familiar and comforting surroundings.
